What to Expect on Your First Visit

Just show up — no appointment needed

You are welcome to walk in for any service. Arrive a few minutes early for Sunday Liturgy (10:00 AM) and someone will be happy to greet you and answer any questions.

Dress modestly and respectfully

There is no strict dress code, but we encourage modest attire as a sign of reverence. Women traditionally cover their heads in the church; head coverings are available if you need one.

Stand, sit, and follow along

Orthodox worship is sung and standing. Don't worry about following everything perfectly — just take it in. Printed service booklets and candles are available inside.

Stay for coffee hour after Liturgy

After Sunday Liturgy we gather for coffee, tea, and food. This is a wonderful time to meet the parish family, ask questions, and feel the warmth of our community.

Languages: Services are mostly in English, with portions in Church Slavonic. All are welcome regardless of language background.

Parking: Free parking is available directly on site at 6832 Hanging Moss Rd.

Children: Children are welcomed and encouraged to participate in worship. There is a Sunday School program for kids.

Holy Communion: In the Orthodox Church, Holy Communion is for baptized and chrismated Orthodox Christians. Visitors are welcome to receive a blessing from the priest.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be Orthodox to attend a service?
Absolutely not. All are welcome to attend any of our services. Visitors of any faith background — or no faith background — are always warmly received. We only ask that you be respectful of the sacred space.
How long does the Sunday Liturgy last?
The Divine Liturgy typically lasts about 1.5 to 2 hours. Orthodox worship is unhurried and prayerful — we believe time spent in the presence of God is never wasted.
I am interested in becoming Orthodox. What do I do?
We warmly encourage you to come to a service and introduce yourself to Father Andrew. We have a catechism program that meets after Saturday Vespers and welcomes anyone seriously exploring the Orthodox faith. You can also visit our Become a Catechumen page to learn more.
What should I do when I enter the church?
When you enter, you will see icons near the entrance. Orthodox Christians venerate the icons by bowing and kissing them — feel free to observe or participate as you feel comfortable. Light a candle if you wish, and find a place to stand or sit.
Are there services in languages other than English?
Our services are conducted primarily in English, with portions in Church Slavonic. Our parish is home to faithful from many countries — Americans, Ukrainians, Russians, Belarusians, Georgians, and others — and we celebrate this beautiful diversity.
